In the category „university research“ the project "Rechargeable GeoBatteries - Microbial Production and Storage of Renewable Natural Gas in Exploited Reservoirs" has been honoured with the Houska Award by a professional audience. This project was conducted by Prof.Dr. Andreas P. Loibner (BOKU - University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna) and provides the basis for the “Underground Sun Conversion“ project.
The Houska Gala Night serves as an exchange platform between research leaders and senior decision makers working in the wider Austrian economy. RAG CEO Markus Mitteregger represented RAG Austria AG as part of the jury in the “research SME” category.
Since the establishment of the Houska Award in 2005 by B&C Privatstiftung, around 430 research projects have been submitted with over 3.8 Million Euro being granted to a series diverse projects. All of the awarded researchers and team leaders as well as the winners in 2018 are from then on a part of an exclusive group within Austria’s research community.
